JRC is proud to be part of One Nation at Los Angeles Community College on Saturday, October 2, 2010

Los Angeles, CA—The Barbara Jordan/Bayard Rustin Coalition (JRC) has teamed up with One Nation Working Together to rally for social change at Los Angeles Community College on Saturday October 2nd at 9:00 am. The event will start at 855 S. Vermont at the south side of the campus. The Los Angeles event is being held in conjunction with the national event in Washington D.C. at 12:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

This is the first time that organizations like the AFL-CIO, NAACP, Teamsters, Rainbow/Push Coalition, Courage Campaign, Equality California, JRC, individuals and other partners are working together on five main issues:

• Putting America Back to Work
• Quality & Affordable Public Education
• Equality for All
• A Clean Environment
• Immigration Reform
• Peace & Justice

The day will start at 9:00 with a massive public display & mobilization. People from the community will talk about the five main issues and how One Nation relates to them. From 11:00 am to Noon, they will have “Tools and Tactics” Coaching where you can sign up with organizations working on the issues.

Rodney Nickens Jr., Community Organizer for the Barbara Jordan Bayard Rustin Coalition said, “One Nation represents a new movement—a new civil rights movement for social change and social justice. JRC is really exited to be a part a movement that is so closely aligned to our mission.”

Please come out on October 2nd, at Los Angeles Community College to rally for Social Justice!

JRC (www.jordanrustin.org) exists to empower same-gender loving, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and families in the Greater Los Angeles area, to promote equal marriage rights and to advocate for fair treatment of everyone without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
